On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors visited His Eminence Metropolitan Christophoros, Metropolitan of Jordan for the Greek Orthodox, and presented him with an official letter of approval from the General Assembly of the Association to donate (as a gift) a plot of land owned by the Association in the Umm al-Kundum area, measuring 4.7 dunams, for the exclusive purpose of constructing an Orthodox church.
His Eminence welcomed the Association’s delegation, headed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Ihsan Hamarneh, and thanked the Association for this kind gesture, which reflects the soundness of the strategic work of the Orthodox Culture and Education Association in supporting the Orthodox revival through its sponsorship of Sunday schools, missions for priests to study theology, and free education for the children of priests in its educational institutions. He wished them continued success, well-being, and blessed service to the Church and the nation.
The donated plot of land, one of the finest in the Umm al-Kundum area, was presented to the church to serve as an Orthodox cathedral and a landmark in our beloved capital. It should be noted that the association, through its specialized committees, has begun preparing the necessary requirements for the establishment of a national Orthodox school and kindergarten on a 33-dunum plot in the same area. This modern school will join its sister national Orthodox schools, renowned for their excellence, in Shmeisani, Ashrafieh, and the Wahba Tamari Kindergarten.
